What’s Wrong With People? For Some Reason, The Internet Is Bashing Lorde’s Asian Boyfriend

It’s no surprise how ruthless and ignorant people can be behind a computer screen. This isn’t just an issue that prepubescent teenagers face in middle school, but in the celebrity world as well.

The Internet has been flooded with nasty and pretty racist remarks involving Lorde and her Asian boyfriend, James Lowe.

The immense success this 17-year-old has had is not preventing any of these vicious, personal attacks. She’s young and in love, and just trying to live her life the way she pleases.

Check out some of the horrible things people are saying about the couple on Twitter.

why is lorde’s boyfriend look like a Chinese old fart seriously #mtvstars One Direction

Apparently the reason for all of this backlash is that Lorde “called” One Direction members ugly. This is evidently false and was just something One Direction fans created for attention. I’m not sure how this even warrants a racist outcry, but people on the Internet are obnoxiously cruel.

Who cares that this is Lorde’s boyfriend? Instead of mocking her, why not support her for not being as shallow as the rest of you people?

Well, that's one way to pick up your first MTV EMA award.

Clad in a shimmery white leotard and a furry white vest, Miley Cyrus headed to the stage to accept the Best Video nod for "Wrecking Ball" and celebrated the moment by lighting what appeared to be a joint.

"I don't think I'm going to be able to fit that in my purse so I'll put it right here for now," Miley said, before playing the award near her feet. "I couldn't fit this award in my bag but I did find this," she said, before pulling out the supposed joint in question.

She then proceeded to light it up and take a long drag.

"For tonight's performance of UNCONDITIONALLY on @mtvema I will be letting the LIGHT in & then making you SHINE! #dontneedtobehighforthis," Katy Perry tweeted before the show.

"@katyperry @mtvema but you may want to be," to which Perry responded, "@MileyCyrus #afterparty," which they both later deleted, according to Us Weekly.

Miley, who kicked off the night twerking in a silver skin-tight dress for her "We Can't Stop" performance, was spotted having more fun with her model pal Cara Delevingne ahead of the awards show at Greenhouse coffee shop in Amsterdam Friday.

Miley Cyrus' highly anticipated MTV EMAs performance is almost here.

But before the pop sensation takes the stage later this evening in Amsterdam, she stopped by the German TV showWetten ... Dass? on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Hamburg.

The songstress' ensemble resembled a strawberry, a black patterned midriff baring top and matching miniskirt with little red hearts shaped like the fruit. The outfit also featured green fringe on the collar and hem, resembling leaves. She accompanied the look with bright lipstick, several necklaces and bracelets and her hair styled in two little topknots.

The 20-year-old performed her hit "Wrecking Ball," and also revealed that her godmother, Dolly Parton, is her "role model."

Parton came to her goddaughter's defense recently, telling the London's Standard "I know that she has thought this all through. We'll let her go and do her own thing," the living legend said in an interview that was published on Friday, Nov. 1.

Twitter

Several hours prior to hitting the red carpet, Cyrus tweeted a naked selfie—because why not—while getting ready.

"I got that shower time showerrrrrr time selfiiiie. (A la lana del ray) #happyemas," she tweeted, along with three alien emoji icons.

She is staring down and away from the camera on "game day," as she called it in a follow-up tweet. Cyrus is showing her bare shoulders, the twin topknots are back and she is sporting some necklaces.
