As Supernatural creator Eric Kripke once wrote, and actor Rob Benedict said in an episode of the CW hit series, "Endings are hard...you try to tie up every loose end, but you never can. The fans are always gonna bitch. There's always gonna be holes. And since it's the ending, it's all supposed to add up to something. I'm telling you, they're a raging pain in the ass."
But sometimes shows are able to get it an ending right. And when they do, they really get it right. The question on everyone's mind heading into Sunday's highly-anticipated series finale of Breaking Bad is whether or not creator Vince Gilligan, stars Bryan Cranston,Aaron Paul and the rest of the AMC hit's team will stick the landing. We don't know, but we can't wait to find out.
In honor of Breaking Bad's swan song, we're looking back at some of TV's most talked-about series finales ever, from 24 to The Wire, and asking you to tell us whether you loved it or loathed it...
Endings, whether they are good or bad, always get people talking.
Gossip Girl fans were enraged (or delighted) when the identity of Gossip Girl was finally revealed (Spoiler Alert: It was leading man Dan Humphrey!). Lost fans were left with their jaws on the floor when main Lostie Jack (Matthew Fox) died...and was reunited with the whole gang in Eloise's church so that they could move on. The Sopranos' devoted viewers were left rage-calling their cable providers thinking their service cut out when the screen cut to black as Journey played. Sex and the City delighted most fashionistas when Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) finally landed the Big (Chris Noth) one. And most recently,Dexter's series ender provoked some serious reactions after the titular serial killer lived to kill another day.
But now we want to hear from you: We're asking you to tell us what you thought of over 20 of TV's most talked-about finales. We'll reveal the results, ranking 'em from worst to best, on Monday. Plus, we'll include how Breaking Bad's series finale ranks amongst them as well! So get to voting and then head on down to the comments to express any lingering feelings you have about any of these finales. (Oh, we know you have opinions!)
